July 2003 - Mallorca, Spain - Correo de Felanitx

During the evening at Casa de la Cultura de Felanitx, María Antonia Pons-Estel (violin) and the Argentine pianist, Nélida Sánchez, taking part of a program for the musical exchange between Argentina and Spain, captivated the audience with their performance of two pieces by composers of both countries. The first performance of "Triptico Criollo," composed for this special occasion by Celina Kohan de Scher, inspired in the folk melodies of several Argentine landscapes, is also worth mentioning. The duet also performed pieces by Granados, Piazzolla, Sarasate, Guastavino and the Spanish composer, Josep Prohens. The performance of the beautiful and contemporary "Homenatge a la Tonalitat 2001" (by Josep Prohens) was also commendable. The two last pieces performed were "Czardes" (by Monti) and "La Cumparsita," which resulted in a standing ovation for the musicians.
